Mere weeks before giving birth to baby Marlowe, Sienna posed nude for British artist Jonathan Yeo. The result is a beautiful, golden painting of an all-natural Sienna.

Nude Pregnant Sienna Miller Painting

A NUDE portrait of a pregnant Sienna Miller is to feature in the first major exhibition from British artist Jonathan Yeo. Entitled, (I’ve Got You) Under My Skin, the collection of works will go on display later this week in Berlin.

“This portrait of Sienna was painted a few weeks before the birth of her baby Marlowe and is part of a series of pictures of her which I plan to exhibit next year,” wrote Yeo in the catalogue which accompanies the show. “It is a tribute to her courage and self-confidence that she agreed to sit for this. I can think of many figures whose public currency in part revolves around their appearance who would prefer to hide themselves away for nine months.”

The painting of the Vogue cover girl will feature alongside a series of portraits and collages dedicated to the “contemporary obsession” with plastic surgery. Yeo spent the last 18 months observing the work of leading cosmetic surgeons in the UK and US for inspiration.

“I wanted an image that epitomised the human body in its most naturally beautiful state to make the sharpest possible contrast with my other paintings in this exhibition, which document patients undergoing cosmetic surgery in a bid to help them conform to societal notions of beauty,” explained Yeo of his decision to include the portrait of Miller. “It made sense to me to unveil this image for the first time in Germany, a country with a very relaxed attitude to nudity, where it is not automatically sexualised or deemed scandalous.”

The 30-year-old actress has previously posed for the artist on six other occasions. Sienna and partner Tom Sturridge welcomed daughter Marlowe back in July. Yeo has also painted portraits of Nicole Kidman, Erin O’Connor and Damien Hirst in the past.

(I’ve Got You) Under My Skin is open from Friday November 9, 2012 until Saturday January 12, 2013 at the Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin. Sienna Miller joined in on Hollywood’s naked and pregnant trend!

But instead of stripping down and baring her baby bump for a magazine photo shoot, the actress had her portrait painted by Jonathan Yeo just weeks before giving birth to daughter Marlowe this summer.

Yeo’s portrait of the 30-year-old Case of You star is part of his forthcoming (I’ve Got You) Under My Skin exhibition at the Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin.

“I wanted an image that epitomized the human body in its most naturally beautiful state to make the sharpest possible contrast with my other paintings in this exhibition, which document patients undergoing cosmetic surgery in a bid to help them conform to societal notions of beauty,” the artist said in a catalogue for the exhibition. “It made sense to me to unveil this image for the first time in Germany, a country with a very relaxed attitude to nudity, where it is not automatically sexualized or deemed scandalous.”

“It has been 22 years since a pregnant Demi Moore caused uproar by posing for Annie Leibovitz on the cover of Vanity Fair,” he added. “In that time society has become almost completely desensitized to the daily exposure to people who have surgically distorted their appearance for artificial reasons. Yet certain sections of society are still uncomfortable with the appearance of pregnancy and images of naked expectant mothers are rarely seen.”

Sienna Miller: Naked portrait of pregnant actress unveiled

British artist Jonathan Yeo has unveiled a striking portrait of heavily pregnant actress Sienna Miller as part of his new exhibition (I’ve Got You) Under My Skin in Berlin.

Yeo said: “This portrait of Sienna was painted a few weeks before the birth of her baby Marlowe … I wanted an image that epitomised the human body in its most naturally beautiful state to make the sharpest possible contrast with my other paintings in this exhibition, which document patients undergoing cosmetic surgery in a bid to help them conform to societal notions of beauty.”

The image, which shows the actress entirely naked, is likely to provoke heated debate over what can be described as art and whether nudity is controversy for its own sake.

The artist spent 18 months observing the work of cosmetic surgeons in the US and UK and has produced a series of images which explore the processes and results behind surgery.

“For me it seemed both appropriate and necessary to exhibit these images of the flesh in Germany: a country with a more relaxed attitude to the corporeal, where the exposed body is not automatically sexualised or considered taboo,” Yeo said.

By posing naked while pregnant for an artist, Miller follows in the footsteps of the actress Demi Moore. The image of Moore heavily pregnant, taken by Annie Leibovitz, appeared on the front cover of Vanity Fair twenty-one years ago.

Yeo praised Miller’s courage in agreeing to sit for the portrait: “The power of the painting partly lies in the fact that Sienna is widely regarded as being one of the most naturally beautiful actresses in the world as well as being a fashion icon to a generation of girls. It is a tribute to her courage and self-confidence that she agreed to sit for this,” he said.

The artist has painted other celebrities, including Dennis Hopper, Rupert Murdoch and Minnie Driver. He also created a famous portrait of George W Bush, made up of paper torn from pornographic magazines.
