Celebrities have been clearing out their designer wardrobes to support the Wrap Up Against Poverty 2012 initiative
Set up by the national charity Elizabeth Finn Care the initiative aims to raise vital funds for those who cannot afford essential clothing.
Items that will be auctioned on eBay to raise funds include a chic leather jacket from Sienna Miller, a vibrant purple Alberta Ferretti coat from Dame Helen Mirren and a cosy Missoni jumper from Richard Branson.
According to the Elizabeth Finn Care charity there are 13.5 million people living below the poverty line in the UK.
Malcolm Tyndall, director of the charity explained that funds raised from the auction will enable them, ‘to help even more people find and access the help they desperately need.’
Lisa Snowdon who donated a Chanel hat, explained that she got involved because: ‘It’s unbelievable to think that so many people go without warm clothes through the winter, and by bidding in the auction everyone can help to change lives for the better.’
The auction takes place from the 26th January to the 26th February.
Sienna, Natasha and Savannah – I’m So Proud of My Girls!
I am so proud of my daughter Natasha, and my step daughters Savannah and Sienna. Not only have they been very successful in turning their passions into professions, but they are all dedicated to giving something back and making a real change.
My daughter Natasha has recently launched an amazing food range called Honestly Healthy, which gives people balanced nutrition that really nourishes the body.
I couldn’t get by without her amazing snacks and fridge-filling service!
Honestly Healthy compliments her holistic retreats, that are such a respite to grounding yourself and finding balance again. She really is an inspiration to me, and a reminder of the importance of taking the time to look after yourself.
In addition to her businesses which centres on wellbeing, Natasha has also done some important work for charity. In 2005 she and Laura Fraser held a jungle-themed fundraiser in Notting Hill for their Why Not? charity.
That night they raised an amazing £100,000 for orphans of the Rwandan genocide.
Another treat for you! I’ve stumbled across a video of Sienna on stage accepting her award at last months Annual International Medical Corps Awards Celebration. It’s a good 6 minute long speech, and it’s really interesting hearing Sienna talk about the charity. Watch the video below, and further below that is a press release of sorts posted by IMC with the video on YouTube.
Sienna was in Beverley Hills last night, attending the Annual International Medical Corps Awards Celebration, at which she was honoured for her work with the charity! She looked fresh, pretty and sophisticated in a little black dress, ankle boots, and her hair in a (very large!) bun – I think she looks fantastic, and very appropriate for such an event. It was a great honour for her to receive this award, and I’m sure she’s very proud! Sienna says that the International Medical Corps is a cause very close to her heart.
I’ve added almost 150 photos of Sienna looking gorgeous at the event, including over 60 HQs. Enjoy the photos, and then head on over to InternationalMedicalCorps.org to read more about their work and what Sienna does with them.
On receiving the award, the blonde beauty said: “After seeing International Medical Corps’ courageous work up-close I was determined to become more involved. These people work in the toughest conditions imaginable, saving lives every single day, and bringing self-reliance and hope to the world’s most vulnerable people. I am honored to be their ambassador.”
Actress and activist Sienna Miller has personally selected a variety of clothing and accessories from her own closet to be auctioned off through eBay to benefit International Medical Corps. A long-time spokesperson and Global Ambassador for the humanitarian relief organization, Miller has visited field programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti and most recently, Ethiopia to raise awareness of the ongoing famine.
“This is an organization that is very close to my heart,” said Miller. “After seeing International Medical Corps’ courageous work up-close I was determined to become more involved. These people work in the toughest conditions imaginable, saving lives every single day, and bringing self-reliance and hope to the world’s most vulnerable people. I am honored to be their mbassador.”
Running from November 7th-17th at www.siennamillerauctions.com on eBay, the auction features gowns worn by the actress to industry events, as well as fashionable, more everyday items selected by Miller. With no minimum bids, even the budget-conscious can own a piece of Miller’s closet, with all proceeds going to International Medical Corps health care relief efforts around-the-world. Items include jackets, dresses, jeans, skirts, pants, shorts, tops, boots, handbags, heels and hats.
Since its founding in 1984, International Medical Corps has delivered more than $1.1 billion in emergency relief and health care services to tens of millions of people in over 65 countries, including during the crisis in Darfur, the Indian Ocean tsunami, the earthquake in Haiti, and the ongoing famine in East Africa.
Miller will receive the Global Activist Award at International Medical Corps’ 2011 Annual Awards Celebration on November 8th recognizing her remarkable commitment to the organization and advocacy for those in greatest need. As Global Ambassador, she has tirelessly supported International Medical Corps’ mission, bringing its humanitarian efforts to a worldwide audience.
Congratulations to Sienna on this fantastic honour!

As the weather turns cold and wet, Woolly Hat Day is a simple way to show your support for homeless people and give St Mungo’s a cash injection ahead of their busiest time of the year.
As well as encouraging schools and workplaces to raise money on a hat wearing theme, the charity is running a celebrity hat auction, which starts today.
Sports stars, actors, comedians and musicians are donating headwear. Donations are already confirmed from Helena Bonham-Carter, Eric Clapton, Sienna Miller and Alexei Sayle.
Bidders also have the chance to own an original Susan Hilferty-designed hat worn by the Wicked Witch of the East, Elphaba, in the Broadway production of Wicked. If you’ve always longed for a piece of designer millinery, get your bids in for lots by Stephen Jones, Philip Treacy and Lock and Co.
Make a note in your diary to wear a woolly hat on Friday 4 November. If hat-wearing is a no-go for your barnet, make a Woolly Hat Day donation online now.
Established in 1969, St Mungo’s provides housing and support to more than 1,700 people each night in London, Oxfordshire, Reading, Bath and Bristol. Its vision is that everyone should have a decent place to live, something meaningful to do, and satisfying relationships with people – as well as the good health to enjoy them.
I just came across this bit of news from June this year, and realised I hadn’t posted it before so though better late than never Unfortunately the item is no longer available, but you can see a picture of it below.
Sienna Miller is JewelMint’s Latest Celeb Curator!
Sienna Miller has some of the most enviable style instincts on the planet, and now one of her personal picks can be yours for only $30! The actress and designer recently lent her editor’s eye to JewelMint, Kate Bosworth‘s social shopping site which features jewelry created with her stylist, Cher Coulter. Miller is the latest celebrity to curate a bauble for the site (Rachel Bilson picked a piece in April) — and while the “Sienna” bracelet may be silver, her heart is pure gold: 50 percent of the proceeds from the piece will benefit International Medical Corps. “I’m so excited to be a part of Kate and Cher’s Curator Series for JewelMint,” Miller said in a statement. “When she asked me to curate a piece, I immediately picked this bracelet because it speaks to my personal style.” To incorporate that style into your wardrobe, visit JewelMint.com soon — it’s only on the site until Aug. 14!
Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig and Sienna Miller are among the stars who have donated their clothes to an auction for a children’s hospital in the U.K.
Beyonce, Nicole Richie and Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts have also raided their closets for the annual Clothes Throw campaign, which raises money for Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Roberts, who hails from Liverpool and is a keen fundraiser for the medical facility, is fronting the initiative and she’s urging fans to support it any way they can.
She says, “I am really excited to be fronting the Clothes Throw 2011 campaign! I’m an avid supporter of Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. I visit Alder Hey and the patients there really touch my heart.
“There are three ways you can help with the Alder Hey Clothes Throw: donate clothes, hold your own Clothes Throw party or attend any of the official Clothes Throw events in (local shopping center) Liverpool ONE.”
