Sienna Miller says her film G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra “compromised” her.
The British actress is best known for starring in Layer Cake, Alfie and The Edge of Love. She starred in action adventure film G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra in 2009. The movie tells the story of an elite military unit comprised of special operatives known as G.I. Joe, who take on an evil organisation led by a notorious arms dealer.
Sienna – who starred alongside Channing Tatum and Dennis Quaid in the film – has revealed acting in the 2009 blockbuster was a “joke”.
“It compromised my values,” she is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Daily Mirror. “I didn’t feel too good about myself. It was a joke.”
Sienna, 29, also revealed that she didn’t meet director Stephen Sommers in casting sessions. The beauty says that because she hadn’t come face to face with Stephen before filming started she felt uncomfortable, and would never make the same mistake again.
“I got cast without the director having met me. Which was a first, and probably an error on their part,” she said. “The first thing he said to me was, ‘God, you’re really short.’ But in a Hollywood accent.”
Rachel Nichols has confirmed that neither she nor Sienna will be returning for the G.I. Joe sequel. Neither will several of the other cast members from the original, including Joseph Gordon Levitt and Dennis Quaid.
Sounds like Sienna has a very busy year anyway, with filming for Just Like a Woman starting soon after Flare Path finishes, and then potentially another play in September!
GI JOE 2 News Flash: The only characters to return in the JON CHU directed sequel will be SNAKE EYES, STORM SHADOW, and DUKE…

Sienna’a G.I. Joe co-star Rachel Nichols talked about their G.I. Joe action figures and catfight in a recent interview:
PW: Plus being an actor lets you try all the professions.
Rachel: Exactly. I’ve never been a big fan of Halloween because I spend my days pretending to be other people as it is. So I don’t need that one day, I’m lucky enough to do it every day.
PW: You actually spawned a Halloween costume a few years ago with Scarlet in “G.I. Joe,” that had to feel epic.
Rachel: Yes, especially seeing pictures of people in it. That was also the first time I had an action figure. That was a game changer. And it was so much fun to make.
PW: Do you own the Scarlet action figure?
Rachel: Somewhere. My mother does a great job of collecting and preserving. Hasbro might not like me saying this, but I don’t think my action figure is very attractive. Sienna [Miller] and I actually fought over who’s rendition was uglier. She kind of wins because hers looks like a cross-eyed 80-year-old woman with an overbite, but I look like a man with a very large forehead and a unibrow, so…

Actress Sienna Miller has regrets about starring in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, insisting she “compromised” her values by accepting the role.
The British beauty played a sexy spy in the 2009 film, but reveals she “didn’t feel good” after taking on the shoot.
And she admits the experience of playing an action role subsequently put her off big Hollywood blockbusters, despite the movie offering a “great pay cheque”.
She tells Britain’s Time Out magazine, “It was what it was, but I compromised my own values to a certain degree and I didn’t feel good about that.
“I’m not very good at fighting. And I’m not very good at guns. And I’m not particularly aggressive. I had to wear sunglasses because every time I shot my gun I would blink. I was completely out of place, like this little midget running round in black leather winning fights, which was just absurd. They did a wondrous job with my wardrobe to make me look threatening.
“G.I. Joe (was) a great pay cheque. If, financially, I’m okay – which luckily I am – there’s no point in doing stuff that’s not right for me. It’s too much time away from home.”
The actress also reveals she is more focused on furthering her theatre career than taking on new film roles, adding: “There are times when you come off stage and it’s so intense that you’re screaming and sobbing but you feel amazing. I’m hooked. Doing a film is just not so appealing.”
Interesting she says this. I like that she tries different genres of films but I can completely understand her feeling these big blockbusters are not for her. (I’d still love to see her in a few more, just because I love seeing her mix it up!). It makes this article at FusedFilm.com, saying the role of The Baroness and Rex Lewis are being re-cast, seem quite possible now.
It is highly likely that a number of the main cast will not be returning for G.I. Joe 2. Channing Tatum is expected to continue on as Duke, though Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who played villain Rex Lewis, and Sienna Miller, who played The Baroness, will probably not return. At this time, we all know that Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s schedule is quite full, but nothing is confirmed there yet. As for The Baroness, it is looking like that character will definitely be recast, or split into multiple different characters for the sequel film. I am not sure what multiple characters means, but we shall see. I can live with The Baroness getting recast and a new Cobra for that matter. Levitt has a mask on now, have the character in the original helmet and all should be fine.
The sequel to G.I. Joe is still in development, and sources are saying they’re still on the lookout for a director. LatinoReview.com have reported the following, from what they’ve heard from “sources”.
Hearing that Jaume Collet-Serra (UNKNOWN), F Gary Gray (SET IT OFF), and John Chu (oh hell no!) are the names circling the sequel.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are writing the script (they also wrote “Zombieland”), and the movie is expected to be released in 2010.
I just came across this article about the filming of G.I. Joe 2, saying that Lee Byung Hun (who played Storm Shadow) will be flying to film in the summer. I don’t know if it’s at all accurate, so we will wait and see if any more news pops up!
After debuting in Hollywood last year with “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”, actor Lee Byung Hun will be leaving for the U.S. again to begin filming for “G.I. Joe 2.”
Lee will be continuing his role as ‘Storm Shadow’, and is slotted to team up again with actress Sienna Miller. His role will also be expanded to become a pivotal character in the plot.
The movie itself has earned much success, as it recorded a staggering statistic of $302, 130,000 USD – the greatest Hollywood achievement made by any Korean actor who has gone overseas.
Lee will be preparing for his role starting May, and leave for the U.S. by June. The movie will be released by the summer of 2012.

Director Stephen Sommers has allegedly quit Paramount’s sequel to 2009 blockbuster GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the studio has approached two agents representing other filmmakers to come on board and steer GI Joe 2. Sommers will not have any involvement in the follow-up.
During production of the first GI Joe, reports surfaced claiming that Sommers had clashed with his producers and Paramount. Last August it was suggested that he would return to direct the sequel.
GI Joe, starring Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller and Christopher Eccleston, grossed more than $300 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of $175 million.
“G.I. Joe” director Stephen Sommers will return to direct Paramount’s sequel, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
There had been some doubts about whether Sommers would be brought back into the “Joe” fold, as there were conflicting reports across the blogosphere last summer that there had been some tension between Sommers and the studio, but the alleged bad blood appears to have been resolved.
Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the sequel, which is still in development at Paramount.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Collider reported earlier this year that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Zombieland”) were hired to write the sequel, and I’m told that the studio is happy with the draft they turned in.
Sommers will likely produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” grossed more than $300 million worldwide last year on a reported production budget of $175 million, not including prints and advertising.
Sommers previously directed “The Mummy” and “Van Helsing,” and he has a “Tarzan” movie in development at Warner Bros.
Sommers is represented by WME.

The MTV Movies Blog had a chance to talk to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and got a status report on the planned sequel to Stephen Sommers’ summer 2009 hit G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which grossed $300 million last summer. Although writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have yet to submit a full script, di Bonaventura is optimistic they’ll be ready to start shooting the G.I. Joe Sequel sometime next spring for a summer 2012 release.
Otherwise, Bonaventura didn’t have a lot to say and was unwilling to confirm who might direct the sequel, which actors may be back and whether they might join the current trend by shooting the movie in 3D, although he did say he was “open to it.”
