The Bottom Line This flubbed French comedy is neither king of the hill nor top of the list.
Géraldine Nakache and Leïla Bekhti look for fame, fortune and Sienna Miller in the Big Apple.
PARIS — As thin and cheesy as a slice of Ray’s Famous pizza, the expat comedy Nous York follows the travails of five French friends trying to make it or break it in the Big Apple. This disappointing sophomore effort from writing-directing duo Géraldine Nakache and Hervé Mimran takes the cast from their breakout hit, All That Glitters, and tosses them into an underwritten, loose-limbed N.Y. séjour that feels much more like an expensive vacation video than a fully developed movie.
Released to coincide with the U.S. presidential elections (a running gag in the film has the characters chanting “Obama” ad nauseam), the wide-scale Pathé release should rack up decent numbers in its first frame, though poor word of mouth may prevent it from breaking the 1M admissions mark, as its predecessor did. Foreign sales outside of Francophonia will likely be scarce, with slim chances Nous York will ever hit the screens of the city it so lovingly celebrates.
The first trailer for another of Sienna’s upcoming movies, Nous York, has recently been released, and you can watch it below. It’s a little different to what I expected, but will still be great to see Sienna back on the big screen.
As well as the video, I’ve also posted the French blurb for the film that came along with the trailer.
I’ve been searching the web for some Sienna goodies today, and I found a real surprise – photos of Sienna on the set of Nous York! As you might remember, Sienna’s involvement in this movie was first reported in October, and I hadn’t thought more of it, seeing as how movies are often reported yet never made and/or we never get photos from the set. So I was surprised to come across these photos, especially as it was apparently shot in New York, where I’d assume the paparazzi would be on the lookout for her. Still, these photos were taken during a late shoot for the movie back in October, and we see Sienna smiling on set amongst her co-stars and crew. They have some rather intrusive watermarks on them, but the pictures are definitely better than nothing. I already get the feeling this movie might have a similar feel to Interview.

BoweryBoogie.com has a brief article and photo about the filming of Nous York. Sienna is reported to be joining the set next month.
A major movie production is headed to the eastern fringe of Nolita. For the next three days, a new film called Nou York will occupy the Bowery, east on Prince and over to Mott.
Searching for information about the film was an SEO disaster. After tons of digging we learn that Nous York is a French production about a “famous film star who rents her Manhattan apartment to a group of French friends.” It stars Sienna Miller in the leading role, and is directed by Herve Mimran and Geraldine Nakache.
Filming on the project began at the end of September. Those expecting to see Miller around the Bowery these next few days might be disappointed. According to the Independent, her scenes begin shooting next month.
The Daily Mail yesterday reported that Sienna has been cast in a new film entitled Nous York. The film is about “a famous film star [played by Sienna I’d presume] who rents her Manhattan apartment to a group of French friends,” who will be played by French actors Leila Bekhti, Manu Payet and Nakache. The film will be directed by French directors Herve Mimran and Geraldine Nakache, who chose Sienna for the role because she has “a certain glamour that comes across on the big screen” and she “looks more seductive in her gowns than most French women do”. She will begin filming in the US next week.
