Toby Jones will play Alfred Hitchcock in a single film which, for the first time, tells the full story of his obsessive relationship with Tippi Hedren played by Sienna Miller.
Supported by Imelda Staunton as Alma Hitchcock and Penelope Wilton as Peggy Robertson – Hitchcock’s loyal assistant. Writer Gwyneth Hughes (The Mystery Of Edwin Drood, Five Days, Miss Austen Regrets) has interviewed Tippi Hedren and surviving members of Hitchcock’s crew at length.
Gwyneth Hughes, comments: “It’s been the most enormous privilege to talk at length to Tippi Hedren, the last “Hitchcock blonde” in the life of Britain’s most original and successful film director. At the time, in the early 1960s, the American star suffered in silence. But now, at the age of 81, her wisdom and insights have helped me to put her real life ordeal on to the screen.
“I know Tippi is absolutely thrilled, as I am, with the casting of Sienna Miller to play her, and when the two of them met recently they got on like a house on fire. I’ve loved Toby Jones’ work for years and for me, he is the perfect choice to play the tormented genius, Alfred Hitchcock. With Imelda Staunton and Penelope Wilton agreeing to play the other two women in his life, it’s my dream cast, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) was at the height of his fame and creativity when, in 1962, he chose an unknown fashion model to star in his most ambitious film – The Birds. But as he sculpted Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller) into the perfect Hitchcock blonde of his imagination, he became obsessed with the impossible dream of winning the real woman’s love. A major movie production is headed to the eastern fringe of Nolita. For the next three days, a new film called Nou York will occupy the Bowery, east on Prince and over to Mott.
Searching for information about the film was an SEO disaster. After tons of digging we learn that Nous York is a French production about a “famous film star who rents her Manhattan apartment to a group of French friends.” It stars Sienna Miller in the leading role, and is directed by Herve Mimran and Geraldine Nakache.
Filming on the project began at the end of September. Those expecting to see Miller around the Bowery these next few days might be disappointed. According to the Independent, her scenes begin shooting next month.

The Daily Mail yesterday reported that Sienna has been cast in a new film entitled Nous York. The film is about “a famous film star [played by Sienna I'd presume] who rents her Manhattan apartment to a group of French friends,” who will be played by French actors Leila Bekhti, Manu Payet and Nakache. The film will be directed by French directors Herve Mimran and Geraldine Nakache, who chose Sienna for the role because she has “a certain glamour that comes across on the big screen” and she “looks more seductive in her gowns than most French women do”. She will begin filming in the US next week.
You may remember that earlier this year, Sienna was reported to have joined the all-star cast of New Year’s Eve. The first trailer for the film has recently been released and I can see no sign of Sienna, and she’s not credited with the main cast, which makes me think she is not in the movie after all … ? My guess is she may have been too busy with Flare Path rehearsals.
The big screen version of Elmore Leonard‘s “Freaky Deaky” has slowly been moving forward. The project first started picking up steam during TIFF last year when William H. Macy signed to the film. A number of names then followed, rumored to be circling the project (including Sam Rockwell and Hayden Christensen whose reps had told us there were not involved with the film) and earlier this year, we confirmed that Camilla Belle had become attached the project as well. But a new actress seems to have boarded the film.
Over at production company Arclight Films’ website, they now list Sienna Miller as part of the cast. Based on Leonard’s 1988 novel, the Detroit-based narrative features a twisty plot involving Woody and Robin (Macy and Miller) a bomb-making ex-couple with radical politics who reunite for a score worth millions, while a cop with bomb squad experience tries to take them down. And while the crime-and-police milieu is familiar ground for Leonard, the bomb-making plot adds a twist to the author’s usual terrain.
Interestingly, there’s no mention of Belle on the page for the film and inquiries to reps for both actresses were not returned as of press time, so for now, nothing is official. “Freaky Deaky” is listed in pre-production and Charles Matthau—son of Walter Matthau—is set to direct the film.

Rachel Nichols has confirmed that neither she nor Sienna will be returning for the G.I. Joe sequel. Neither will several of the other cast members from the original, including Joseph Gordon Levitt and Dennis Quaid.
Sounds like Sienna has a very busy year anyway, with filming for Just Like a Woman starting soon after Flare Path finishes, and then potentially another play in September!

British actress Sienna Miller will star in Just Like a Woman, playing a Chicago housewife who absconds with her belly-dancing teacher to Las Vegas to enter a dance competition. Rachid Bouchareb, whose Algerian Oscar entry Above the Law lost out to In a Better World in Sunday’s Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, directs. He starts filming on location in New Mexico on June 13. Miller, whose new play Flare Path directed by Trevor Nunn opens in London this Friday, tells me she agreed to star in Just Like a Woman before she even read the script. “Rachid is one of the most exciting directors working today,” she says. “He’s one of those people who understand the medium of film in a way that’s not manipulative but that’s honest and raw. As a director he’s capable of anything. The kinds of films he makes are the ones I like to watch.” Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani (Body of Lies) and Bouchareb regular Roschdy Zem will co-star. Just Like a Woman is being structured as a US/French/UK co-production between Bouchareb’s production company Tessalit and Anglo/Brit producer The Bureau. It sounds like Bouchareb wants to do something more light-hearted. Right-wingers marched on the streets at Cannes last year over Outside the Law. Demonstrators protested against what they saw as a one-sided account of the 1950s fight for Algerian independence. Bouchareb and Miller are both repped by WME, with United Agents also repping Miller in London. She’s managed by Scott Melrose.

Alyssa Milano has joined the cast of the Warner Bros. ensemble production New Year’s Eve, Variety reports.
A thematic follow-up to Valentine’s Day, the movie will be set in New York and follows intertwining stories of characters trying to navigate their way through romance on New Year’s Eve.
Milano is said to be playing a nurse to Robert De Niro’s character, a lonely old man close to death in the hospital who has no one to spend the holiday with.
The enormous cast also includes Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi and Til Schweiger.
As production is expected to begin this week in New York City, the cast should be pretty close to finalized.
Ice Cube, Josh Duhamel and Ryan Seacrest are in negotiations to join the still-growing cast of New Line’s New Year’s Eve.
The trio will join Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara in the production, which goes before cameras in February.
The movie tells intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through bittersweet drama and romance over the course of New Year’s Eve.
Duhamel, one of the leads, plays a hopeless romantic who spends the day trying to get to New York in the hope of getting to a party in order to re-meet a mystery girl from the previous year.
Cube would play a NYPD cop who is working with the director of the Times Square festivities (Swank).
In his cameo, Seacrest would play himself.
Duhamel, who last starred in Life As We Know It, is repped by ICM and John Carrabino Management. Cube, repped by UTA and Prospect Park, was last seen in Lottery Ticket from Alcon. CAA-repped Seacrest played himself in Get Smart and Knocked Up.
Jon Bon Jovi and Seth Meyers are putting on their party hats for New Line’s all-star ensemble New Year’s Eve, being directed by Garry Marshall.
German actor Til Schweiger has also closed a deal to board the production.

Bon Jovi last movie appearance was National Lampoon’s Pucked in 2006. Meyers, head writer of Saturday Night Live, just wrapped I Don’t Know How She Does It with Parker.
Bon Jovi and Meyers are repped by CAA. Meyers is additionally repped by Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Schweiger, repped by Anonymous Content, appeared in Inglourious Basterds.
