Sienna appeared at the Leveson Inquiry into press standards and ethics today, to give evidence about press intrusion into her life. I tweeted a link to watch the live stream a few days ago, so hopefully some of you were able to catch it. Further down this post are tweets/live updates from MSN’s coverage of the inquiry, that give us a basic overview of what was said. I will post any further articles, plus pictures (which seems a bit inappropriate, but we’ll see!), later today.
Does anyone know if there’s anywhere online where we can re-watch Sienna’s testimony?
What are your thoughts on this inquiry and Sienna’s evidence? I’d be really interested to hear some of your opinions…
Sienna was in Beverley Hills last night, attending the Annual International Medical Corps Awards Celebration, at which she was honoured for her work with the charity! She looked fresh, pretty and sophisticated in a little black dress, ankle boots, and her hair in a (very large!) bun – I think she looks fantastic, and very appropriate for such an event. It was a great honour for her to receive this award, and I’m sure she’s very proud! Sienna says that the International Medical Corps is a cause very close to her heart.
I’ve added almost 150 photos of Sienna looking gorgeous at the event, including over 60 HQs. Enjoy the photos, and then head on over to InternationalMedicalCorps.org to read more about their work and what Sienna does with them.
On receiving the award, the blonde beauty said: “After seeing International Medical Corps’ courageous work up-close I was determined to become more involved. These people work in the toughest conditions imaginable, saving lives every single day, and bringing self-reliance and hope to the world’s most vulnerable people. I am honored to be their ambassador.”
Sienna attended a breast cancer charity event in London last night, looking fabulous in a little peachy-pink Matthew Williamson dress – I love this look on her! The event benefitted the breast cancer charity Too Many Women, and was hosted by high street label All Saints. It raised £130,500 for the charity. Read the charity’s official blog post report on the night at their official website.
(On a semi-related note, Matthew Williams designed a gorgeous charm bracelet for the charity, which you can find out more about right here.)
Sienna attended the event with her mum and very pregnant sister Savannah – congrats to Savannah! Inside the event Sienna was snapped with Ronnie Wood and Lily Donalson.
Pics are in the Gallery for you – what do you think of Sienna’s look? And scroll down this post for a few tidits from the event.
And to complete our 2011 appearances catch-up, I’ve added photos from the events Sienna attended in September during London Fashion Week. She was loyal as always to her friend Matthew Williamson, attending his S/S 2012 show, and also popped up on the front row of the Burberry Womenswear S/S 2012 show. As well as those two catwalk shows, Sienna also showed her face at an event to celebrate the career of photographer Mario Testino. She showed off a very glam look at this event – what do you all think of this look? I love her hair and Christian Dior dress, but am undecided on the heavy make-up!
Over 200 photos from these 3 events can be viewed in our Gallery now:
Next up, we have photos from 2 events that Sienna attended in June of this year.
On June 9th she and her father Ed Miller co-hosted a reception for the launch of the ‘Beatles Illuminated: The Discovered Works of Mike Mitchell’ photographic exhibition. Further down this post is the press release for the exhibition which will tell you more about it, and you can find 15 photos from the reception in our Gallery.
On June 16th Sienna and other celebs celebrated the (then) upcoming Wimbledon at the Ralph Lauren Wimbledon Party in London. Sienna was snapped with Savannah, her mum, and tennis legend Boris Becker. Pics in the Gallery!
I’m finally getting round to catching up on missing appearance photos from this year (sorry about my absence!), and to start with I’ve added over 100 HQ photos of Sienna and Savannah launching their (then) new Twenty8Twelve collection at Selfridges earlier this year. Sienna looks so pretty and her hair and make-up are perfect!
Photos are in the Gallery, and further down this post is an article and several videos from the event.
Sienna appeared on NBC’s The Today Show on September 15th, to talk about the recent phone hacking scandal. After a few days of searching, I’ve now found a video of the appearance on YouTube, and you can watch it below. It looks like The Today Show interviewed her on two separate topics that day – this the phone hacking, and her recent work in Ethiopia that I posted about a day or so ago.
Sienna and her Flare Path co-star Sheridan Smith will next month take part in the Theatre Royal Haymarket’s ‘Masterclass’ event. The Masterclass event set-up is as follows:
Masterclass aims to offer young people exceptional creative opportunities and experiences with leaders of the theatre industry. A year-round programme of talks, workshops, special projects and career advice is intended to give people insight into all aspects of theatre from writing and directing to acting and producing. Masterclass strives to provide all the events for free, so that people of all abilities, status and background can be inspired by and learn from masters of the craft.
Sienna and Sheridan will be making their appearance on May 19th, and will take part in a discussion about their theatre work, as well as answer questions from the audience:
Two of Britain’s hottest young stars of stage and screen, currently appearing to great acclaim in the Haymarket’s smash hit production of Rattigan’s Flare Path, will be in discussion with leading theatre journalist Matt Wolf and taking questions from the audience. A fantastic opportunity to gain insight into a life in the spotlight and the rigours of appearing in the West End.
The event will be followed by a special fundraising afterclass, giving a select group the unique chance to join Sheridan and Sienna for an exclusive champagne tea. For more details about the afterclass fundraiser click here.
I think you can book tickets for the discussion, but you will need to register first. Find out more HERE.
Why Belarus Free Theatre deserves a standing ovation
With performances held in secret and at considerable risk, the BFT is using the stage to fight censorship in a dictatorship. Its extraordinary work should be seen all over the world
A week ago last Sunday, on a night when most theatres are almost empty, the Young Vic in London was packed. Jude Law and Sienna Miller were appearing on stage together. Ian McKellen, Jonathan Dimbleby, Samuel West and Adjoa Andoh lent a hand. But the star turn was a company called Belarus Free Theatre. The standing ovation was for them, and the cheers lasted for minutes. Because by any measure, what it does is extraordinary.
Belarus Free Theatre is an underground group based in Minsk. “Underground” not because it’s cool and edgy, but because Belarus is a dictatorship and any opposition, artistic or otherwise, can be swiftly and harshly silenced. Citizens of Belarus are subject to extreme censorship and human rights violations, to which other governments turn a blind eye. Resistance activists have mysteriously disappeared or been kidnapped, imprisoned and killed.
The BFT runs plays that tell people what’s going on in their country. It is subject to continual harassment and death threats. But it doesn’t stop. Most of its actors have been expelled from the state theatre for their involvement with the BFT, and are classified by the KGB as “unstable elements”. Producer and writer Natalia Koliada and playwright Nikolai Khalezin have become human rights activists as well as theatre practitioners. They feel that their country has been forgotten.
I first encountered the BFT when director Lyndsey Turner and I visited Belarus last summer for a week of workshops with its young apprentices. On our last night in Minsk we saw the company play to a home audience. It wasn’t just another night at the theatre.
As reported on the night, Sienna attended the St Pauls Knightsbridge Carol Service on Tuesday night, and I have now added photos to our Gallery. We also have candids of Sienna leaving the church later that night, and I think you can spot Jude Law in the background!
What do you think of Sienna’s red outfit? A hit or miss? Personally I really like it, but let us know what you think with a comment
