Nylon magazine have posted a sneak peek at Twenty8Twelve’s new collection! We previously posted photos from Style.com‘s first look at the A/W 2011 Lookbook, but this set has a much different feel to it. The light, pastel colours are so pretty and Sienna looks fabulous in the pics. They totally get me in the mood for summer!
I’m pretty sure this is a Spring/Summer 2011 collection … ?! Based on what Nylon and T8T said on their Twitters.
Paris Fashion Week is underway, but we’ve got one more treat from London to share: This exclusive first look at Sienna and Savannah’s new Twenty8Twelve collection.
It borrows from Navajo and vintage ’40s prints the sisters found in English thrift stores and antique fairs, and has enough different silhouettes to suit your body, however it rolls out of bed in the morning.
And since this range hits stores this month, you can actually buy it when you want it – as opposed to the other fashion reports we’ve been sharing, which sadly won’t arrive in anyone’s closet until Fall.
Style.com have posted photos from Twenty8Twelve’s Autumn/Winter 2011 Lookbook, and as usual, Sienna is modelling some of the new line! She, and the clothes, look fantastic. See the full collection at the link I just posted (Sienna pics are now in our Gallery), and read Style.com’s review below – Savannah sounds like such a pro, and looks like they’ve done some very impressive work!
Last season, before Twenty8Twelve’s Spring show, a scrum of photographers pretty much turned into a pack of flash-wielding hyenas as Jude Law took his seat in the front row. Today that scene seemed a galaxy away, as Savannah Miller guided editors through a rack of her and sister Sienna’s new collection in a day of private appointments. “We wanted to focus on intimacy and building relationships,” she said. “It’s hard with a show and it can get quite theme-y. It’s fun, but it ended up looking like a bit of a circus. Like, ‘Crikey, who’s going to wear that?!’”
The one-on-one approach allowed her to show off the new level of quality that she’s achieved by finding not-exorbitant manufacturing in the U.K. Is domestic production sexier than Jude Law? Well, it could be, when you’re shopping for a perfect tuxedo blazer or a heavy gray wool flannel coat—both of which Miller’s managed to make quite impressively at a very nice price.
Other than a Parisian flair with a touch of beatnik chic, there wasn’t much of a theme. Instead, Miller described the collection best as a “perfect capsule winter wardrobe.” Along with strong basics, like a long gray cardie or smart unlined tweed coat, were more individual pieces like a lacquered lace and pleated chiffon party frock and a Fair Isle trompe l’oeil sweater dress and cardigan, all in one piece.
It’s a smart direction, as long as Twenty8Twelve can maintain a distinct viewpoint—part of which obviously comes from the famous half of this sister act, who was missing in action today. On that note, both Millers are planning a series of PAs in the U.S. in late spring.
3rd update of the day for you today is photos from last month’s London Fashion Week events! Sienna and Savannah launched the Spring/Summer 2011 collection for Twenty8Twelve, and Sienna also attended the S/S 2011 Show of her friend Matthew Williamson. She and Savannah looked fabulous at their show, and I love the photos of the two of them chatting during the show! 140+ photos have been added to our Gallery for you.
Photos from the Dinard Film Festival will be added next, probably tomorrow all being well.
The Hollywood actor, Jude Law, took a 6am Eurostar from Paris this morning in order to make the London Fashion Week showing of the spring/summer 2011 collection by Twenty8Twelve, the label designed by his fiancée, Sienna Miller, and her sister, Savannah.
The label, which takes its name from Sienna’s birthday, was launched at London Fashion Week, in September, 2007.
The collection, which took to the “stage” on the concrete floor of the cavernous Old Sorting Office, on New Oxford Street, was a perfect amalgamation of Sienna’s “boho-chic”, and the more laid-back, eco-conscious spirit of her elder sister, Savannah, who lives a rural life in Gloucestershire, with her husband and three children.
The clothes, inspired by Joni Mitchell’s album, “Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter”, told the story of a girl on a road-trip from Thailand to Mexico and Nevada, in the 1950s.
Shorts, waistcoats and dresses in fringed suede, denim and floral cotton were mixed with tight, body-conscious slinks in “hill tribe” prints. Loose knits and T-shirts came with ruched miniskirts and distressed cut-off jeans. Prom-dresses featured several layers of visible, frilled petticoat. And a classic white shirt was teamed with cute, embroidered white shorts.
Law, who is soon to begin filming the sequel to Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes”, was wearing a grey suit by Alexander McQueen, and sat next to fashion designer, Matthew Williamson, both of them tapping their feet to the music as the models sped by.
You had to use your imagination to see the influence of Joni Mitchell, Jack Kerouac and director Wim Wenders in the impressive catwalk show by actress Sienna Miller and designing sister Savannah Miller at London Fashion Week Saturday (Sept 18th).
But those were the inspirations the unique designing team of Twenty8Twelve cited for their spring and summer 2011 collection, a focal point of Saturday’s shows on Day Two of fashion week.
The crowd at the Old Sorting Office in central London seemed to include an unusually high number of young blonde women who styled their hair exactly like Sienna Miller — blonde and slightly wild, often parted down the middle.
Even the models used the Sienna hairstyle and big sunglasses to give them the casual, glamorous look associated with the actress, who has starred in “Factory Girl,” “Layer Cake” and other major films.
Known for creating a sexy rock chick look, Sienna and Savannah Miller did not disappoint their fans, winning over the crowd with slinky mini-dresses, tight black cocktail dresses, and a series of jersey outfits, some with revealing cutaways.
They offered a slouchy, comfortable look. There was a denim minidress with pink frilly details at the bottom, like a puffed up petticoat, and some lovely lacework and antique embroidery embellished other outfits as well.
While Sienna Miller’s on-again boyfriend Jude Law may have stolen the paparazzi’s attention with his front-row presence at Twenty8Twelve’s spring 2011 show, the collection that the actress and her sister, Savannah, put out was the showstopper.
Eclectic and free-spirited, the mostly casual looks inspired in part by 1950s Mexico captured the essence of the brand, creative director Savannah Miller said after the show.
“I think for us, it really captures the essence of the brand, this collection, and what we started out to do, which was just create wearable, fun and eclectic clothes,” she said. “And really that’s what this is for us.”
The ‘50s were most evident in the dresses — many of which had full skirts, filled out with white petticoats that had a pop of color at the hem. There were also hints in golden-hued colors, playful prints and a suede, fringed Pocahontas dress.
If you were to take a road trip on Highway 66 today, all you would need is some pieces from Twenty8Twelve’s spring collection and a tube of red lipstick. And maybe some Bob Dylan for good measure.
The range of the collection, from a lovely structured jacket and ‘50s frocks to ruched, body-con dresses and distressed boyfriend-esque jean shorts, is part of what has kept this small brand alive and thriving since launching in 2007.
“The other day I was in the store and there were three generations of women in there – a grandmother, a mother and a daughter – and everyone was able to buy clothes that they really felt reflect who they were and how they wanted to portray their personalities,” Savannah said. “So, it is nice that it can be worn in that way.“
“When you see 70-year-old women looking fantastic in the clothes and 15-year-old girls in some of the shorts,” Sienna added, “it is really exciting and I feel like it does cross generations. “
SIENNA AND SAVANNAH MILLER have made a film of their latest collection. The designer sisters took their autumn/winter 2010-11 designs to Hilles – the Gloucestershire home of Isabella and Detmar Blow where Alexander McQueen was known to find great inspiration – to shoot an incredibly chic fashion film directed by Angelo Penetta and starring Sienna herself alongside Sara Blomqvist.
“We wanted to capture our new season on film to get a real feel for the collection and Hilles provided the perfect backdrop for us,” Sienna told us. “The rich tapestries, velvets and eclectic style of the house completely reflect the elements of our autumn/winter collection. I loved filming in every room.”
With fashion film increasingly becoming recognised as an artistic medium in its own right, the Miller girls – who launched their Twenty8Twelve collection in February last year – are never far off trend.
“We felt moving image could capture the essence of the message with more clarity,” said Savannah. “We feel it makes the story come alive and it was amazing to work with Angelo.”
As Covent Garden played host to the BAFTAS, just down the road, on the banks of the River Thames, London Fashion Week was in fierce and stylish competition with its own global superstars, red carpet-worthy gowns and the ‘premiere’ of a new movie, starring Sienna Miller.
Miss Miller played a sexy rock-chick in a short film to promote Twenty8Twelve (named for her birthday), the label she designs with her sister Savannah.
The movie was projected onto the wood-panelled walls of the Art Nouveau palace at 2 Temple Place last night, which was originally built for the first Viscount Astor.
It formed a backdrop for models parading the Twenty8Twelve autumn/winter 2010/2011 collection, which was inspired by 1980s underground club culture, in acid-dyed denim and velvet, with hand-crocheted knits.
Earlier, Sienna Miller had taken a break to sit in the front row for the show by the British designer, Matthew Williamson, one of her best friends. Williamson’s collection, inspired by Spain and the culture of the matador, featured fan details on cobalt, purple, and salt-and-pepper tweed suits; fiesta prints; toreador trousers; and dazzling shifts and gowns in gold and silver, based on bullfighters’ jackets.
