Another treat for you! I’ve stumbled across a video of Sienna on stage accepting her award at last months Annual International Medical Corps Awards Celebration. It’s a good 6 minute long speech, and it’s really interesting hearing Sienna talk about the charity. Watch the video below, and further below that is a press release of sorts posted by IMC with the video on YouTube.
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas! Today we get a Sienna Christmas treat of sorts of our own – the first trailer for Two Jacks has been released! The official Facebook page for the film states that “this is not a trailer – it’s a little teaser on film that are distributors made up to give a taste of film”.
Watch it below, and post a comment to let us know what you thought of it! Screencaps can be found in our Gallery.
I’m finally getting round to catching up on missing appearance photos from this year (sorry about my absence!), and to start with I’ve added over 100 HQ photos of Sienna and Savannah launching their (then) new Twenty8Twelve collection at Selfridges earlier this year. Sienna looks so pretty and her hair and make-up are perfect!
Photos are in the Gallery, and further down this post is an article and several videos from the event.
Sienna appeared on NBC’s The Today Show on September 15th, to talk about the recent phone hacking scandal. After a few days of searching, I’ve now found a video of the appearance on YouTube, and you can watch it below. It looks like The Today Show interviewed her on two separate topics that day – this the phone hacking, and her recent work in Ethiopia that I posted about a day or so ago.
Whilst browsing YouTube for Sienna, I came across this video for Network (the Turkish clothing brand Sienna is promoting) which features a few shots of Sienna. It seems to be a video of their preview event for their Spring/Summer 2011 line, for which Sienna was the face. I’ve skipped through it and first noticed Sienna about 10minutes in, if you want to skip ahead to her. Watch the video, and read the press release that goes with it further down this post:
Actress Sienna Miller, International Medical Corps Global Ambassador, Calls for Greater Attention to Humanitarian Crisis in East Africa Following Visit to Ethiopia
Los Angeles, Calif. – Actress and International Medical Corps Global Ambassador Sienna Miller returned this week from visiting International Medical Corps’ nutrition programs in the Dolo Ado camps in eastern Ethiopia, an area largely inaccessible by media. More than 120,000 Somalis – 30 percent of whom are malnourished – are seeking refuge here from the crippling effects of drought, famine, and conflict. With six regions of Somalia now facing famine, Miller is calling for greater attention to the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today where more than 12.4 million people throughout East Africa require relief.
“Without immediate humanitarian intervention, more than 390,000 children are at risk of starvation,” said Miller. “International Medical Corps is on the ground providing emergency nutrition services and health care to vulnerable populations in Ethiopia as well as in Kenya and Somalia, but they will need ongoing support to meet the massive needs, which are only expected to expand in the coming months. Ongoing support will literally make the difference between life and death for thousands of children in Ethiopia, and throughout the region.”
Having worked since 1991 in Somalia, International Medical Corps is reaching affected populations with nutrition and water, sanitation, and hygiene programs to provide a multi-faceted approach to the crisis. In Sool and Sanaag regions, the organization, with support from UNICEF, screened 11,500 children and admitted 679 children in outpatient therapeutic program sites for advanced nutrition care. Teams also distributed micro-nutrient supplements for 4,850 pregnant and lactating mothers. In addition, trainings were conducted for Ministry of Health staff on community mobilization, nutrition screening, vaccination, and referrals.
At the Dolo Ado camps in Ethiopia, International Medical Corps, in partnership with the Ethiopian Government’s Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs (ARRA), is providing supplementary feeding services for malnourished people, including the provision of nutrient-dense therapeutic foods. To date, approximately 5,000 children and pregnant and lactating women have undergone nutritional screening and referred to the appropriate level of therapeutic care. Teams also constructed 136 latrines and washrooms with 200 more planned and launched a hygiene campaign to thwart the spread of communicable disease in the overcrowded camps.
Hugo Boss’s fragrance brand Boss Orange has released a campaign featuring its celebrity brand ambassadors Sienna Miller and Orlando Bloom, to promote a charity tie-up with Unicef to aid the development of schools in Madagascar.
In a video ad, Bloom and Miller outline the nature of the ‘Today. To Help. Together’ initiative between Boss Orange and Unicef and its aims.
The campaign, which has been created by Steve Elston, Izzy Critchley-Salmonson and Angela Harding at Grey London, will run online, in press ads and in Hugo Boss stores. Media buying and planning is handled by MediaCom.
Boss Orange has made an initial donation of $300,000 (£185,000) to the ‘Schools for Africa’ initiative, which aims to provide disadvantaged children with access to quality education.
Whatsonstage.com has joined the celebration of the centenary of Terence Rattigan’s centenary by hosting two Outings to Rattigan plays in as many weeks. Last night *March 28th) saw 250 theatregoers make their way to the Theatre Royal Haymarket for Flare Path, Trevor Nunn’s first production as artistic director at the Haymarket. Starring James Purefoy (returning to the West End for the first time in ten years), Sienna Miller (back from a 2009 stint on Broadway in After Miss Julia) and the unstoppable Sheridan Smith (winner of Whatsonstage.com and Olivier Awards for her role in Legally Blonde) and following rave reviews we were all really looking forward to this war-time drama.
It is 1942. At the Falcon Hotel, on the Lincolnshire coast, Teddy a young RAF bomber pilot celebrates a reunion with his actress wife Patricia. They are thrown into upheaval when Peter, Patricia’s ex-lover and Hollywood heartthrob arrives and an urgent bombing mission over Germany is ordered. Who will make the sacrifice during the long night, as Patricia finds herself at the centre of an emotional conflict as unpredictable as the war in the skies.
An emotive tale of love and loyalty Flare Path had many audience members sniffing and the strength of the performances throughout ensures that you can’t help but get caught up in the drama of it all. Sheridan Smith as cheerful Doris captures the comedy and sympathy of her role with skill while the intensity between Purefoy (Hollywoord heartthrob indeed) and Miller (actress Patricia) is almost palpable. All the other members of the cast create an entirely believeable and touchingly British sense of the desperate cheerfulness of war-time.
We were then lucky enough to be joined by the triumvriate – Purefoy, Smith and Miller – for a post-show Q&A which was by turns amusing and thought-provoking. We talked about everything from the research they undertook for their roles, the affect the costumes have on the piece and the power of Rattigan’s Work. Purefoy made some interesting comments on this play in relation to British identity while Miller spoke of her pleasure at working with as an acclaimed director as Trevor Nunn while Smith was quite open about her experience of moving from Playboy Bunny costumes to knee-length florals and seamed stockings.
“Really elegant and classy – the perfect winter wardrobe,” says Sienna Miller about the autumn/winter 2011-12 collection from Twenty8Twelve. Watch Sienna and her sister Savannah as they pick out their favourite pieces from the new range, and talk through the challenges of staying true to their design aesthetic.
