Sienna is attending the BAFTA TV Awards in London tonight, where she is nominated for Leading Actress in 2013 for her performance in The Girl. <del datetime="2013-05-12T20:17:27+00:00">I don’t think her category has been announced yet so we’ll keep you updated on how that pans out!</del> Sienna is wearing a cute little dress by her good friend Matthew Williamson, and is accompanied by her sis Savannah. We have the first few photos from the red carpet in our Gallery, and more will follow. There are also a few articles with quotes from the red carpet.

Unfortunately Sienna did not win the award for Leading Actress, it instead went to Sheridan Smith for Mrs Biggs … Sienna and Sheridan seem to have stayed friends after working in Flare Path together, so we’re sure Sienna is happy for her friend! Big congratulations to Sienna for the nomination which is a fantastic achievement

Sienna Miller, who is up for best actress for playing American model and actress Tippi Hedren in The Girl, said on the red carpet: “It was a great role because there was an awful lot to get my teeth into,” adding that it was going to be a “fun night”.

British actor David Harewood, who is in US drama Homeland, said he was “very lucky to be a part of it” adding: “Superman’s British, Batman’s British, Spider-Man’s British – it’s great that British actors are having such success abroad”.

Toby Jones is nominated in the best leading actor category for his performance as film director Hitchcock in The Girl, alongside Ben Whishaw who is in the running for playing Richard II.

Jones said on the red carpet: “It’s interesting playing Alfred Hitchcock in any way at all, he’s a huge personality.”

He added that the drama portrayed “one of the darker passages of his life”, adding that there was “a nervousness” at portraying him but that “hopefully I managed to balance out the darker side with the more understandable side”. He said his father was nominated in the soap opera category so it was a family event for him.

Sienna Miller attends Keira Knightley’s wedding

Sienna Miller was one of the few celebrity guests at Keira Knightley’s low-key wedding.

The 31-year-old blonde actress jetted from New York to Mazan in the South of France for less than 48 hours to watch her Edge of Love co-star “shed tears of happiness” as she tied the knot with The Klaxons keyboardist James Righton in front of just 11 guests on Saturday.

The mother-of-one was spotted leaving the leaving the Chateau Mazan where the married couple and wedding party were staying on Sunday morning and returning to the airport to fly back home to her fiancé Tom Sturridge and their 10-month-old daughter Marlowe in New York.

‘Close friends’

Sienna previously revealed that she and Keira have remained close friends after bonding on the set of the film in 2008 and called the 28-year-old Anna Karenina actress a “timeless movie star”.

Keira and James exchanged vows shortly before midday at the town hall in Mazan, 67 miles from Marseilles, before speeding back to her family’s nearby $5m vineyard for their reception in a silver Renault Clio.

The actress wore a short strapless dress, reportedly the same Rodarte creation that she wore to a pre-BAFTA event in 2008, pale pink ballet flats, a cropped Chanel jacket and a delicate floral garland around her head.

The groom’s band

Among the small number of guests at the ceremony included the actress’s playwright mother Sharman MacDonald, father Will Knightley and Keira’s brother Caleb, as well as James’ father Nicholas and his brother Bill.

The rocker’s bandmates were also among the 50 guests at the reception and provided the musical entertainment.

The couple got engaged in May 2012 after meeting through mutual pal Alexa Chung, but she is not believed to have been present at their wedding.

Burberry Fresh

Sienna Miller and her fiancé, Tom Sturridge, have been signed for a new Burberry campaign, a source tells Page Six. The pair joins the ranks of the brand’s current and former faces Cara Delevingne, Emma Watson, Kate Moss and Romeo Beckham. Speculation was that Bradley Cooper’s gal pal, model Suki Waterhouse, may be another new Burberry face. Reps for the English line chose not to comment. Sources said they usually announce their autumn/winter ad talent lineups in July.

Yellow premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last September, and I’ve just come across this review that has a really nice mention of Sienna.

Yellow also screened at the SXSW Festival earlier this year, but I’ve heard nothing about the film since then. Hopefully it will be getting a release of some sort this year…

TIFF Review: Nick Cassavetes’ ‘Yellow’ Is Daring, Bold And Just What The Doctor Ordered

Officially the most refreshing breath of air at this year’s TIFF, Nick Cassavetes’ new feature ‘Yellow’, is a step into crazy terrritory, far from his recent romantic comedy fare and “Alpha Dog.” It’s Cassavetes moving away from traditional ways of telling stories, and towards a different type of perspective and very different type of view, as he admitted during the Q&A. You can’t but feel almost like a child trying to talk or review this movie because of how infectiously zany it is; think “Young Adult” on Vicodin and acid. Leading lady Heather Wahiquist puts her all into a truly memorable leading performance, and no wonder; she co-wrote the screenplay with Cassavetes. But the winner has to be the imagination behind the trippiness.

Though you’ll be hard pressed to find a rock solid plot in this one, it does clearly deal with Mary Holmes (Wahlquist), an elementary teacher who loses her job after being caught having sex with one of the parents on Parent Teacher Day. Not to mention that her first line of dialogue is to say that she doesn’t feel anything, confessing it to her therapist (David Morse, always nice to see him back) and carrying around a purse that seemingly only has yellow painkillers and mini bottles of alcohol in it. If all of that doesn’t sound like enough, how about a random burst into an operatic number? And that’s opera with a fuck-you attitude, daring and resilient and fully aware that it’s taking a plunge into a film that could be a Michel Gondry dream.

Mary tries to get help after she loses her job — she can’t support her 4 boys on her own with none of their fathers in the picture — and she seeks help from her sister Xanne (Sienna Miller) who pushes her away. Oft-underrated as an actress, Miller needs some online ink spilled about her here. She brings her natural beauty to an ugly and hilarious character, and hits a home run. Watching her scream out profanities while doing her Tourette’s twitches is a positive comic delight.

After Mary has a small and visually arresting accident, she has a flashback into a childhood moment that prompts her to go back and see her family. And there you have it as far as plot’s concerned; ‘Yellow’ is a film you want to see with as little information as possible. Though not without its imperfections — at times the rails come off the narrative in a big way — the film does a great job of embracing those imperfections, and making it an experience fueled by feelings, and not so much anything close to rational thought. With a top notch cast, and a ride that will make you doubt your own feelings towards characters minutes after you’ve settled on liking them, ‘Yellow’ works because it says a lot and remains entertaining through out.

Refreshing apart from the performances, effects and attitude, is that it’s women running the show, ‘rock stars’ as Cassavetes likes to call them. The film follows suit in the same vein of recent films concentrating on 30-something good-looking women with unbalanced lives (“Young Adult,” “Bridesmaids,” et al), ‘Yellow’ manages to remain unique in its approach, helped by a soundtrack that’s destined for many playlists and made in a spirit that’s unshackled to any conventions. It is Nick Cassavetes’ most adventurous and fun-loving film, in its own sense of freedom reminiscent of his father, the late great John Cassavetes. So far there is no news on distribution or when this thing is coming out, but as soon as it does, go out, don’t take it too seriously and have a little fun with it. [B+]

A Case Of You will be premiereing on April 21st at the Tribeca Film Festival (it starts tomorrow) as part of their Spotlight selection. The official Tribeca Film Festival website has full details on the screening dates, plus the first stills from the movie (although none featuring Sienna). It also provides us with the first synopsis:

Young writer Sam has a crush on Birdie, the cute and quirky barista at his local coffee shop. When his conventional attempts to woo her crash and burn, he takes his efforts online, creating an Internet profile embellished with all of the details that would make him Birdie’s dream guy: ballroom dancing, rock climbing, a seemingly endless, escalating series of wacky and unlikely hobbies. When the harebrained scheme is a surprise success and Birdie falls for his exaggerated alter ego, Sam must keep up the act or lose his dream girl forever.

Written by and starring Justin Long and directed by TFF alumna Kat Coiro, this sweet and fun rom-com presents a clever take on what happens when romance goes online and how two people can really connect in an increasingly “connected” world. With charming chemistry between Long and co-star Evan Rachel Wood, as well as a hilarious ensemble of cameo performers including Peter Dinklage, Sam Rockwell, Vince Vaughn, Brendan Fraser and Sienna Miller, A Case of You is a winning comedy for the social media age.

Read a couple of interviews with director Kat Coiro about the movie below:

Meet the 2013 Tribeca Filmmaker #7: Kat Coiro Continues Her Hot Streak With Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood Starring ‘A Case of You’

Even if one hasn’t seen any of the films by director Kat Coiro, it’s almost impossible to not admire her amazing rise in the past few years, creating two shorts and three features since 2010, beginning with her short “Idiots” and the premiere of her first feature length “L!fe Happens,” at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. Coiro is hardly a new face to Tribeca, her second film “While We Were Here,” premiered at the festival just one year ago in 2012, but now she returns with her third full length feature “A Case of You,” starring Justin Long, Evan Rachel Wood, and Peter Dinklage among others.

What it’s about: “‘A Case Of You’ is a romantic comedy written by Justin Long, Christian Long and Kier O’Donnell that centers on Sam (Justin Long) who admires Birdie (Evan Rachel Wood) from afar but doesn’t have the self-confidence to approach her. Taking the advice of his good friend Eliot (Kier O’Donnell) to the extreme, Sam decides to become the “man of her dreams” by learning everything there is to know about Birdie through her Facebook page, so that by the time they finally meet in person he is familiar with all of her likes and dislikes and is able to cater to her as if he was created to be her boyfriend- despite putting his own personality on the back burner. With a wacky cast of characters including Gary the guitar teacher (Sam Rockwell), Alan the Agent (Vince Vaughn) and Gerard the Baristo (Peter Dinklage), “A Case Of You” follows Sam as he figures out who he is and gets the girl in the process.”

What else should audiences know: “I want the film to speak for itself.”

What was your biggest challenge in developing this project: “The guys who wrote the script, along with their partner Jessica Neuman, spent a long time writing the script and getting it into the right hands. Once Holly Wiersma brought it to me it was pretty smooth sailing. The sincerity of the script attracted the right cast and we put it together quite quickly. I anticipated the biggest challenge would be shooting in the winter in New York City, but 2012 was an amazingly mild winter and we had a great time.”

What she hopes audiences will walk away with: “I love the simplicity of “A Case Of You” and first and foremost I want audiences to be entertained. It’s a comedy so I definitely want audiences to laugh but the film also has a lot of heart and at the end of the day Sam’s insecurity is very relatable.”
A Case of You

On films that inspired her: “Christian, Justin and Kier wrote the script based on personal experiences they were going through at the time and I tapped into their (and my own) personal experiences more than any single film. I also like the idea that New York/Brooklyn is a real character in the film and because we filmed entirely on location, in real spots, I’d say the city was a huge influence.”

What’s next: “Kat just finished writing a comedy pilot for 20th Century Fox and NBC based on the book “Slouching Towards Adulthood” and she just started directing commercials with HELLO!&Co. Her second feature “While We Were Here” is still doing the festival circuit and is slated for a theatrical release later in 2013. After a very busy three years Kat is taking time to think long and hard about what her next project will be.”

‘A Case of You’ Director Kat Coiro On Internet Stalking and the Brilliance of Evan Rachel Wood

In her first in-depth interview about her film ‘A Case of You,’ Kat Coiro spills on working with talents like Justin Long, Keir O’Donnell, Sam Rockwell, Brendan Fraser, and Peter Dinklage on the streets of NYC.

Tribeca: Tell us a little about A Case of You. What drew you to the project?

Kat Coiro: Producer Holly Wiersma and I had been looking to do a project together when she found this little gem of a script and brought it to me. Even before I read A Case Of You, I was hooked because it was named after my all-time favorite Joni Mitchell song (which, sadly, we didn’t end up getting the rights to). When I read the script I was impressed by its simplicity.

So often romantic comedies rely on unrealistic plot devices and over-the-top set pieces, whereas this script felt very sincere, a reflection of the insecurities of everyone who has ever struggled to find and keep romantic love.

Tribeca: Justin Long, Christian Long and Keir O’Donnell wrote the script and played other roles (producers and acting for Justin and Keir) as well. Can you discuss your collaborative process with this talented trio?

KC: Stepping into Justin, Christian and Keir’s world was like entering a tight-knit family, not only because Justin and Christian are, literally, family, but because the guys worked on the script for years before I became involved and the story itself came from a very personal place for all three of them. Because of their enthusiasm for my feature debut L!fe Happens, they were very trusting and gracious and allowed me to bring my vision to their story.

I didn’t want them to change the script too much before production, although we did collaboratively add Brendan Fraser’s character to give Justin’s character Sam a little more reason for his insecurity. Once we were on-set, everything sailed smoothly. When Justin, Christian or Keir had input on what was going on in front of the camera, I asked them to speak directly to me so that I could balance all of their thoughts and concerns equally.

For the most part, we were always on the same page so it didn’t take much to honor everyone’s wishes and bring their vision, along with mine, to the screen. I feel grateful that this was my first experience directing a feature I didn’t write because I genuinely enjoyed collaborating with Justin, Christian and Keir and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Tribeca: I really appreciated the modern look at relationships that A Case of You provides. Everyone I know has stalked a potential lover at some point via facebook. In last year’s festival, the film that you directed, While We Were Here, was a black and white relationship drama that felt ageless. How did you prepare for directing this contemporary love story?

KC: Despite the obvious modernity of A Case Of You and the humorous “relateability” of internet stalking, I wanted to direct this story because of the timelessness of the struggle to find and secure love. Sam’s biggest obstacle is Sam, and I often feel that that is the case when it comes to love and romance. We, along with our baggage and insecurities, are our own worst enemies.

Tribeca: A Case of You is obviously a labor of love. From inception to print, how long did it take to get the film made?

KC: Justin, Christian and Keir worked on the script for about four years before I came on board. Once I became involved in the fall of 2011, it all came together stunningly quickly, and we were already prepping by January 2012. We finished filming last spring. Post production took a little longer than usual because one of our editors and all of our post-houses were in New York, while I am Los Angeles-based.

So from soup to nuts it took about five years, with my involvement taking place during about one and a half of those years. However, because I wrote/directed and produced my first two films – L!fe Happens and While We Were Here – The A Case Of You timeline, in comparison, seemed luxuriously quick.

Tribeca: You obviously have an amazing cast—Long, O’Donnell, Evan Rachel Wood, Busy Phillips, Brendan Fraser, Sienna Miller, Sam Rockwell, Peter Dinklage and Vince Vaughn. Can you talk about how they came to the project?

KC: I was blessed to begin the project with Long and O’Donnell attached. Having such high-caliber talent in place makes it much easier to go after other actors because, no matter how engaging a script is, actors want to know that they will be appearing on the screen in good company.

Tribeca: Your films are always so refreshing to watch because they feature such strong female characters. As a big fan of Evan Rachel Wood, I enjoyed seeing her play someone her age in a modern setting. What about her made her perfect for the role of Birdie Hazel?

KC: Evan is one of my favorite actresses out there. I’m always surprised by how young she actually she is because sheis possessed of a depth and gravitas beyond her years. I believe this is why she is so often cast in intense period pieces. However, she has a great dry sense of humor and infectious enthusiasm, both of which really come across in her portrayal of Birdie Hazel.

From the outset I knew I needed to find an actress who was believably intimidating, someone who could conceivably make Sam, Justin’s character, re-create himself in her image. Evan is that girl. Birdie can dance, sing, and wisecrack; she’s genuinely nice, but she doesn’t suffer fools. She is romantic without being sappy, brimming with intelligence and confidence and a lust for life. She is articulate and unafraid of revealing her flaws, not to mention that she’s beautiful in a completely accessible and understated way.

Evan embodied this extraordinary character to a “T,” making us completely understand Sam’s fear and desire to be the best version of himself. I would love to work with Evan again. She is a great talent and a consummate professional.

Tribeca: New York City is almost like another character in A Case of You. What makes this city so filmable?

KC: The challenge in filming in New York, just like filming in Los Angeles, is that it’s been filmed a million times so you have to find a new way to approach the city. My favorite New York films – basically anything Woody Allen – all feel very genuine, meaning the stories are taking place in the real neighborhoods you see on screen.

As anyone who has ever lived in New York knows, once you’ve been in the city a while, your neighborhood becomes your entire world. I tried to make this happen in A Case Of You by picking real Brooklyn neighborhoods and actually shooting in them. I’d like for people who live in Sam’s and Eliot’s neighborhood to recognize the coffee shops and streets and businesses.

Additionally, I feel as if New York films are often shot in the summertime or, if they are shot in the winter, they are portraying a snowy Christmasy New York that isn’t completely realistic. I wanted to show New York in the real, grey winter.

Tribeca: What’s the craziest thing (or “lightning strikes” moment) that happened during production (for better or worse)?

KC: When shooting small-budget movies, especially during very short timeframes, you can’t really leave much to chance. We prepped the movie down to the second and stuck to the script exactly. Of course, there are always unknown factors in making a movie that throw you off course or elevate a certain moment. I never like to talk about the worst moments because everyone on set is always striving to do their best, and talking about wardrobe malfunctions or location snafus – no matter how funny – inevitably throws someone under the bus. So I will stick to the best.

We did a rehearsal of the romantic prop shop scene, which had always worked when reading the script, and suddenly we weren’t quite sure of its place was in the story. So Justin, Christian, Keir and Evan and I put our heads together and decided that the scene was about Sam’s fear of revealing personal details– no matter how insignificant they may seem.

Being in the boy scouts till you are 18 or being in an a-cappella group in college shouldn’t be embarrassing once you are a fully grown man, but Sam holds on to these moments and blows them out of proportion in his mind to the point where he actually thinks that these facts will make Birdie dislike him. We had a great conversation and, with seconds to spare, the guys re-wrote the scene, and it’s now one of my favorite scenes in the film.

Tribeca: What are you most looking forward to at Tribeca?

KC: I’m looking forward to seeing this very New Yorky little movie in front of a New York audience.

Tribeca: What makes A Case of You a Tribeca must-see?

KC: Sam Rockwell is hilarious; Peter Dinklage is outrageous; Brendan Fraser plays the harmonica; Sienna Miller is pregnant; and Vince Vaughn is Vince Vaughn.

Keira Knightley is timeless: Sienna Miller

Casanova star Sienna Miller thinks actress Keira Knightley is a timeless movie-star.

The 31-year-old actress, who starred alongside Knightley in 2008 film The Edge Of Love, said her close friend has a unique style and can pull of any outfit because of her classic appearance, reported Contactmusic.

“The first thing that springs to mind (when thinking about Keira) is the 1940s. I think of her as glamorous in that kind of timeless movie-star way, but she can be grungy in this very cool 90s way.

“You say this about people who have style, but it’s true – she genuinely doesn’t think about the way she looks or how she puts herself together. She could throw on a bin bag and look beautiful,” Miller said.

Knightley, 28, has been the face of numerous beauty and fashion campaigns and the brunette beauty enjoys exploring different looks to create distinctive feels for the brands.

“I like the fantasy of fashion, creating a different person and dressing up like her. Putting on a flowery dress when it’s raining brightens up the world,” she had said.
