Welcome back! S-O.org is back after the short downtime due to bandwidth. Today we’ve been catching up with the candids, and tons have been added. Unfortunately, I’ve also had to remove some pictures due to copyright issues – not that many but it’s still a shame to have to remove any at all. I have a bunch of magazine scans to add soon, and I also have an uber-cool treat for you courtesy of Mariana! Sienna is expected to attend the Venice Film Festival on Saturday to promote Casanova – there will probably be a Photocall/Press Conference and Premiere, so there will be lots of new pics to look forward to then :p
Incase you haven’t heard, Sienna has created charms for a bracelet being sold to raise money for the UK charity, Cancer Research. It will be on sale from September 5th and is will be available to buy from Wallis stores across Britain and via the cancer research UK and Wallis websites: cancerresearchuk.org and wallisfashio.co.uk for £15. All the proceeds will go towards Cancer research UK which, in Britain, supports the work of more than 3,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. It’s for a good cause so if you have the chance to buy one then you definitely should. Hopefully some pictures will be released soon! =)
In this weeks Grazia, Sienna talked about one of the charms she added on her braclet calld ‘The Om’, “The Om is a beautiful Hindu and Buddhist symbol that I’ve always been very drawn to. It represents creation and makes a powerful charm on a bracelet that funds cancer research”
Casanova will be the featured film for the gala evening of Saturday September 3rd during the 62nd Venice International Film Festival, to be held on the Venice Lido from August 31st to September 10th. It will be the world premiere of Casanova by Swedish director Lasse Hallström, starring Heath Ledger (as Casanova), Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons and Lena Olin. Casanova is, after an interval of almost 30 years, the first film by a major production company to be filmed entirely in Italy (and more importantly in Venice), and is to be distributed in Italy by Buena Vista International.
The agreement was reached in the past few days by the Director of the 62nd Festival, Marco Müller, with the management of Buena Vista International and their Italian branch.
“We have been courting the producers of this film, which shows off Venice as an extraordinary movie set, ever since last year”, declared the Festival’s Director, Marco Müller. “It is the perfect film for a festive occasion; it is a fun, unrestrained work, like the classic Hollywood cloak-and-dagger films, but with a robust dose of modern, irreverent modernity. I wish to thank Buena Vista International and Touchstone Pictures for their precious help in making this extraordinary event possible”.
For its part, Touchstone has confirmed its own enthusiasm in presenting Hallström’s film for its world premiere in Venice, as a central event in such a prestigious, internationally acclaimed festival.
Amongst those present in the Sala Grande in the Palazzo del Cinema for the gala evening on Saturday 3rd September will be the film’s director Lasse Hallström, its producers Mark Gordon, Betsy Beers and Leslie Holleran, and some of the main cast, including Heath Ledger (Casanova), Lena Olin and Sienna Miller.
Casanova, by Lasse Hallström (Chocolat, The Cider House Rules), was filmed almost entirely both indoors and outdoors in Venice. It is a rousing romantic comedy about Casanova’s – the world’s most notorious seducer – greatest adventure, losing his heart. A swashbuckler, master of disguise and wit, it was said no woman could resist Casanova’s (Heath Ledger) amorous charms. But he meets his match with an alluring Venetian beauty, Francesca (Sienna Miller) who refuses him.
The film also stars Oscar winner Jeremy Irons as the detective-like Bishop Pucci, who pursues Casanova for the Inquisition, Oscar nominee Lena Olin as Francesca’s mother and Oliver Platt as Papprizzio, Francesca’s betrothed.
Thursday night was so sultry in the West End that it would have put anyone off taking their seat in the auditorium of a theatre, let alone tackling Shakespeare’s longest female part on stage for the first time at short notice. But for Sienna Miller, the 23-year-old actress and model who has been traded like pork belly on the celebrity market for about three years now, a lot was at stake. This was her golden chance to win not fame, for she already has a stretch-limo-load of that, but to gain some real standing as a talent in the world of entertainment. [Continue Reading]

SIENNA MILLER stood in for the leading lady in Thursday night’s (23JUN05) performance of AS YOU LIKE IT in London’s West End, astounding cast and audience alike. Actress HELEN McCRORY, who plays ROSALIND in the WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE comedy, collapsed from gastro-enteritis and dehydration during yesterday’s matinee. But although director DAVID LAN was set to enlist the services of understudy DENISE GOUGH for the evening show, he received a text message from Miller saying “I know Rosalind’s part if you need me to do it.” And the blonde star, who has been panned by theatre critics for her “wooden” performance in her usual supporting role as CELIA, saved the day with just 90 minutes before the curtain rose. Lan says, “I was astonished. There was absolutely no reason why Sienna should know a single line.” Miller said afterwards, “I’m not completelyconscious of what just happened. “I’ve felt in a complete state of shock and in a way I still am. I just attempted to imitate Helen McCrory.””
Sienna Miller last night received a standing ovation for stepping into the lead role in the West End version of Shakespeare’s As You Like It after her co-star, Helen McCrory, fell ill. Sienna has been playing Celia, cousin and best friend to Rosalind, since the play opened earlier in the week, but bravely stepped into the more demanding role with less than four hour’s notice when doctors advised her co-star to rest after picking up a virus. “You must come back and see Helen in the role,” Jude’s fiancée told fans afterwards. “She’s much better than me.” However, our mole in the stands disagrees. “She was absolutely amazing,” one thrilled theatregoer told us. “I swear I was crying by the end.”
Sienna Miller begged her boyfriend Jude Law to help her learn her script in preparation for her part in a London stage production of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It.The Alfie star had no qualms about taking Law’s advice for her theatre debut, which opened in the British capital’s Wyndham’s Theatre last night (21JUN05), despite her determination to stand on her own as an actress. She says, “Anyone with a boyfriend who’s been nominated for an OSCAR two times would be stupid not to let him test them on their lines.”But Miller’s assistance couldn’t save her performance from the cold eye of London’s theatre critics, one of whom scathingly wrote: “She approaches an emotion with the finesse of someone beating a carpet.”
