Get the movie-look - Nikki in Alfie

Character Description
In the sixties movie re-make, Alfie, Sienna Miller plays the complex character Nikki. Nikki is a bit of "wild child" who parties hard, smokes, and drinks. Although the viewer doesn't see an immense amount on this character, we learn about her desparity and the complex angles of her personality. In the movie, Nikki is bipolar. When she meets Alfie she decides she will be happy again and decides to stop taking her pills. This is a big mistake. Nikkie begins to freak out and have many issues with Alfie and also a desparity to hold on to him as a boyfriend...which leads to his breaking it off with her. Nikki embodies a free spirit and ultimatley is the quintessential sixties girl.

Nikki's General Style

Nikki is the wild child, swinging, free spirited, sixties girl and has the wardrobe to support it! Her wardrobe includes big earrings, fur jackets, gilets, and capes, thigh high heeled boots, patent boots, tired peasant skirts, belts slung around her waist, mocassin boots, slouchy boots, floppy hats, and cute hippie tops and dresses. Nikki's style is all about the free spirited sixties and all inspiration from her wardrobe was pulled from that era. Sienna Miller seemed to be inspired by Nikki's wardrobe and wore the "free spirited, sixties, hippie" look for some time, until about late 2005.

Nikki's Hair

Nikki's hairstyle was all about the sixties and ALL about the fringe (bangs)! Nikki's fringe was long, sitting right above her eyes. Ask your hairdresser for a long, uneven, "choppy," not blunt fringe, to achieve the ultimate sixties look. The fringe should also be longer on the sides. Also, Nikki's hair was long (a little past her chest) and had relaxed, hippie waves. To achieve these waves you can use any wave/scrunch spray product found at your local drugstore. Some include:
- Tresemme Curl Care, Curl and Scrunch Hairspray
- Garnier Surf Hair Texturizing Spray
When using these sprays, apply them when your hair is pretty much all dry and spray a generous amount to one side of your head, then from the bottom, grasp an amount of hair in your fist and scrunch it "up." Continue doing this around your head.

Make-Up

Finally, to finish off the Alfie-Nikki look you can add the makeup! In the movie, Nikki wears heavy black, smokey eyed, smudged liner around her eyes and finishes off with a soft, sheer, nude gloss. Any black eyeliner pencil will do, but a personal favourite would have to be the black liner from Sephora. Specifically, "Too Faced Lava Matte Super Black Eyeliner," which can be purchased in their stores or online at www.sephora.com.
For the gloss, any nude, sheer colour would work but specifically Sephora's "Cargo Lip Gloss" in "Kankan."
To apply the eyeliner rim your eyes with the black eye pencil and smudge it. Don't apply it onto your tearducts because that will only make your eyes appear smaller...and you want your eyes to pop! If you want you can even add an extra "flick" of subtly curled up liner at the edge of your eye for the dramatic sixties look. To finish it off you can apply a smokey, greyish, blackish, purpleish eyeshadow to the top of your lids.
